Franklin Art Collection
Founded in 1980, the Jack Franklin Memorial Trust commemorates the services to education of Councillor Jack Franklin, O.B.E. As a lasting tribute to his work, the Memorial Trust instigated a collection of Works representing the best artistic achievements of students, teachers and artists in Lincolnshire, using the monies donated by the public. Many of the works of art have also been donated to the trust by artists and others have been purchased from the fund set up in 1970. As a result the collection is unique in the area as a continually expanding collection. The fund also allows for the collection to be maintained in good order and to be expanded. Alongside this the Trust is able to give bursaries to students wishing to continue with their Art Education.
Members of the public are invited to view the collection which is displayed on the walls of the Franklin College in Grimsby. Groups wishing to view the collection should first contact Franklin College to ensure easy access at a mutually convenient time.
This catalogue of the collection has been made in Memory of our founding trustee Duncan Smith.
In founding the Jack Franklin Memorial Collection, Duncan Smith paid handsome tribute to a greatly admired friend. Duncan inspired us with his passion for Art and founded a lasting legacy in Grimsby his loved birthplace.
